Sullon Zek, the Mistress of Rage, is our last stumbling block on the road to Deathknell. Once we get her down, we've cracked another major milestone and opened up another lootful zone. Did I mention, there's no trash in Deathknell?

Sullon is a very difficult fight. We have to figure out how to get her dead while not dying to adds, nor spreading her viral effects to the entire raid and killing us all. There's an invisible timer on this event, based on casters' mana; one of Sullon's AE's carries a -1500 manadrain. So if the fight goes on too long, we'll run dry and die off. It's part DPS, part control, and all attention.

Sullon and her AE's

Sullon Zek hits plenty hard, and single rampages. Treat the RT like you do on Redfang, lots of heals needed. She likes to rampage a lot, too. She doesn't have much for HP, only a little more than AMV; but she's also very resistive. If you can debuff her resistances at all, please do so.

Sullon Zek has 4 spell effects. One isn't a huge threat, one is a pretty heavy threat, and the other two are a horrific threat. They are, in that order:

Sullon's Vengeance
Sullon's Plague
Sullon's Ferocity
Sullon's Wrath

Sullon's Vengeance is an unresistable 30-second stun. But it goes off VERY infrequently, to the tune of once per attempt. It appears to be cast on any random target in raid.

Sullon's Plague is a massive slow, spell slow, 4k nuke, 1500 mana drain (on impact, thankfully, not DoT), and 1200 endurance drain (likewise, not DoT). It can be cured with 18 disease counters. Disease cure potions are a wonderful thing for this encounter, I strongly recommend everyone carry a few. The plague AE also fires very infrequently.

Sullon's Ferocity and Sullon's Wrath are the biggest threats. Ferocity is a viral invulnerability; Wrath is a viral fizzlecurse that also nerfs melee into uselessness. Sullon will cast one of these effects on up to eight random people, every 90 seconds. Seven to ten seconds later, that effect will then spread to EVERY player in the vicinity of the infected player.

What this means, in brief: if people are not attentive, the entire raid could get hit with a 100% inability to cast or hit with melee attacks. Or, we could all get hit with DA- which will then fade at different times on various people, leaving Sullon free to pick us off a few at a time.

Viral AE's and preventing their spread

This is the single most critical point of the Sullon Zek raid. There is no way to prevent the virals from hitting, and there is no way to cure them once on. Anyone with a viral effect must run away from the raid and wait at the designated quarantine site until the viral effect has faded. In this manner, the infectious raid members are taken out of the equation to prevent the effects from spreading to everyone else. Viral effects will always fade about 75 seconds after they were cast, regardless of the buff timers; this clears the air and gives everyone a chance to get back into the action before the next virals are cast. Quarantine people must run back from quarantine once they are clear. On the next cast, the newly infected people have to run away, and so on.

Ideally speaking, there should be no more than 8 people under the influence of a viral effect at any time, and usually fewer. Classes with a high level of internal cooperation (clerics, tanks..) need to communicate when they are viral'd so that others can pick up the slack. It bears mention, if you're out on quarantine, you have a lovely break to med up a bit.

Viral effects are resistable. Infusion of the Faithful will give you a small chance of resisting the effect; AE bard resists would be helpful. If you have buff space, get resist buffs. This could potentially reduce the raid impact of the viral casts. It will also give you a resist chance on Sullon's Plague.

Now for the part we missed, and the part that probably killed us a few times. Sullon Zek can cast viral effects on pets; swarm pets; aura emitters; campfires; banners; familiars; and so forth. Your lovely +150atk campfire might seem helpful, but it's a potential risk to spread a viral fizzlecurse to the entire raid! Wizard familiars are permissable, but you must banish the drake. No other pets or familiars are allowed. To reiterate:

THERE WILL BE NO PETS, NO AURAS, NO CAMPFIRES, NO FAMILIARS, AND NO GUILD BANNER AT ANY TIME ON THIS ENCOUNTER. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Viral effects and tanking: the MA's and add OT's are not exempt from viral effects. If such a tank gets hit, he must run to quarantine and someone else must take up their job instantly. In the case of knights and warriors both, a viral DA will drop you temporarily to zero aggro, leaving you free to run down to quarantine; your mobs will switch to other targets and will not summon you. The fizzlecurse is another story. Warriors must be ready to AE taunt off each other. Knights could presumably use DA/harmshield (once) to get free, if you have one level of Mastery of the Past AA. After that you will have to drag any aggro mobs down to quarantine with you and hope someone can strip them off without spreading the infection.

Ideally speaking, if we're executing this event by control, then we will also control our DPS so as not to spawn adds with viral effects imminent.

Sullon's adds, and how the heck do we win?

At 88% on Sullon's lifebar, and every 12% increment thereafter (76, 64, 52, 40...), four adds will spawn. These are evil eye models; red con; hit for 2k's, rampage; summon; resistive; unmezzable, unsnareable. They have a fair amount of hp.

There are two ways to win this event.

- Kill the adds as they spawn. This is the "legit" method of winning the event, and for our purposes, we will probably need to utilize this method for at least a few add waves. Knights OT or kite the adds wherever the can while we burn them down one at a time. Then we return to Sullon and burn her, etc. Unfortunately, this also extends the duration of the fight significantly; and that 1500 manadrain from Sullon's Plague plus the risk of a loose viral AE is a pretty serious threat. The fight can't go on for long, so DPS needs to be hot on both Sullon and on her adds. At some point, probably around 50%, we will call for knights to hold down all the eyes while we burn Sullon to a crisp in a frantic burn.

- Ignore the adds and kill Sullon. There are guilds who can kill Sullon in under 90 seconds, before the first virals are cast. This requires ~40k guild DPS, which we might or might not have. However, we do have enough DPS to drop her in about 120-150 seconds if all goes reasonably well; which means that, if people respond to viral casts appropriately, we can still win this way. It requires some pretty stupendous work by the knight team, however. They must somehow hold seven waves of four adds (28 total) off the raid while we kill her. It's pretty unlikely that will happen.. But the adds will despawn sometime after she dies and we can banner back to loot the corpse and finish up our flags.
