Performer strats for consideration

Post by Nannwin »

Courtesy of certain friends .. will post the whole thing here and let officers cut and paste if they have better. FYI CE NEVER finished this event....EVER

Preliminary thread, since we know next to nothing at this point. But since we're getting close to some real work on Roley, I wanted to get this up for later.

First, the goal of this event is to rescue The Performer and his troupe from a horde of marauding hostiles. The band does not attack us; I don't know if they help us, either.

There is a pit trap in the SW corner of the room; you have been warned. The square of carpet covering it is several shades darker than elsewhere in the room.

During the event, the band will sing songs. Hailing the various members of the band before the event will get you the texts. As they sing, they will periodically ask one member of our raid to fill in a line of the lyrics for them. If you succeed, you advance the event; if you
fail, you get mezzed with Stage Fright.

This event might require everyone to create a huge bank of hotkeys to fill in the song lyrics as needed. Except a healthy batch of audio triggers and a requirement for a lot of social hotkey real estate, or a photographic memory for those lyrics.

Meanwhile, we're killing mobs swarming into the room. Sounds like fun, no?

More to come as we learn.
_________________________________________________________________

The event last 20 minutes and 30 seconds. If the Performer and his band are still alive, we win. This time never changes. It's always 20 minutes and 30 seconds.

Each Band Member has a different song he sings and the songs have different effects. For example, one of the mobs we will face is an orc named Blueblood. Blueblood has an insane regen rate but singing the song and advancing it, will greatly reduce Blueblood's regen, allowing us to kill him.

This event is train after train after train after train after train of mobs. We're talking upwards of 15 waves of mobs. DPS is critical here as we need to kill each wave down before the next onslaught arrives. In addition to trash mobs, we'll also be fighting and killing tougher named mobs including Blueblood, The Spinstress, etc. This is THE toughest event in the entire game. Mayong is a cakewalk compared to this.

The songs are follows:

Britton Harmony sings a tune describing the bitterness of a failed romance.

When she and I split ways,
it felt like the end of my days.
Until I suddenly,
suddenly realized
this life was better off alone.
Solitude was the best gift you ever gave me.

Aelfric the Flautist sings a catchy song with nonsensical lyrics.

Touched tenderly.
Where will you be?
Dreaming with me.
Please,
everybody, hear the music.

Seth Kimble sings a depressing tune about suffering and despair.

Another night, in eternal darkness.
Time bleeds like a wound that's lost all meaning.
It's a long winter in the swirling chaotic void.
This is my torture,
my pain and suffering!
Pinch me, O' Death. . .

Randal Reedsea sings a limerick about a historically significant figure.

Ol' Nilipus hailed from Misty Thicket.
Where'er he smelled Jumjum he'd pick it.
The halflings grew cross
when their profits were lost,
screamin', 'Where is that brownie? I'll kick it!'

As preliminary setup, you should make 4 seperate full banks of hotkeys. Each hotkey needs to be one verse.

Using Randal Reedsea as an example.

Hotkey 1 - I title it Randal1 and the command is /say Ol' Nilipus hailed from Misty Thicket.
Hotkey 2 - I title it Randal2 and the command is /say Where'er he smelled Jumjum he'd pick it.
Hotkey 3 - I title it Randal3 and the command is /say The halflings grew cross
Hotkey 4 - I title it Randal4 and the command is /say when their profits were lost,
Hotkey 5 - I title it Randal5 and the command is /say screamin', 'Where is that brownie? I'll kick it!'

I then make hotkeys for all the other lyrics from each musician and title them in a similar fashion.

Next I will need to make audio triggers keeping me abreast of the current progress of the song as well as prompting me with what I need to do next. We don't have exact emote text for this yet.

And now for the Pieace de' resistance...<SP?>

When I typed this up, I planned it for social pages 7 and 8 in the action window, on the premise that for people who already have a couple pages of macros (as I do), those might be the least used.

If you want yours on a different page, change the # following page in the Page#Button# part.

I highly recommend you edit this file while EverQuest is not running.

If you want to use this, copy the following into your Charname_erollisi.i ni file in the [Socials] section. It should be pretty obvious that that is where the rest of your socials are once you open it Make sure that you don't accidentally save it as a .txt file instead of an .ini file

Re: Performer strats for consideration

Post by Liamm »

General Information
The Performer is one of the four events in tier 2 of the Demi-Plane of Blood. It is the most difficult event in the tier; indeed, many guilds agree that it's harder than Mayong Mistmoore himself. For this reason, it's generally the last event that a guild successfully completes in tier 2. And, due to its location (one room north of the ballroom), even guilds that farm the zone generally do the Performer last, right before Mayong.

[edit] Event Information
Now, onto the ins and outs of the event. The most basic statement about it is that it's a ring event. Your goal, as the raid force, is to keep The Performer alive at all costs, for roughly 21 minutes. All the mobs of the event rush out of the halls into the room, and attempt to beat him down - they need to be intercepted, generally by Paladins/Shadow Knights. The priority for killing them should be Drachnids (due to their nasty AoEs), then the werewolves (due to their charm), then finally the orcs (which are mezzable).

[edit] Activation
To activate the event, anybody in the raid must hail The Performer and say the phrase "Lend our voices".

“ You say, 'Hail, The Performer'
The Performer cocks his dusty skull and poses dramatically. Even in undeath, the minstrel before you has retained his poise and charm. 'Pleasure to meet you, Soandso. In this castle I am known as The Performer. My true name was taken away from me the moment I became a slave to the Master. The same moment I lost my life and became another plaything in his collection. And though he may have stolen away my freedom, he can never stifle my freedom of expression. I know just the thing that makes the Master furious but it would require some backup vocalization. How do you feel about [lending your voices]?'

You say, 'We will lend our voices.'

The Performer says 'Wonderful! Pay attention to the cues and sing the next line of the song when called upon. The guards will arrive soon and attempt to break up our entertainment, so fend them off as best you can. Forgive me, but I'm actually giddy. Even thinking about the frustration this will cause the Master makes me feel almost human again.'

[edit] Named Mobs
Twice during the event, a named mob will rush the raid.

[edit] Blueblood (5:00)
Five minutes into the event, Blueblood will come in, announced by an emote. He is a giant blue orc; naturally, he has pretty high HP and melee DPS output, nothing too devastating though. The part to watch out for is his knockback proc (name needed); in the southwest corner of The Performer's room, there is a false floor - anybody who tries to step on the rug will fall through, aggroing a pit full of mobs that will train the raid. Generally Blueblood is where the big DPS burn should happen.

[edit] The Spinstress (15:30)
Fifteen and a half minutes (ten and a half after Blueblood), The Spinstress makes her attempt to bring you down. She is much tougher than Blueblood; oftentimes, a raid force will send a small team out in the hallway to offtank her until the event ends, at which point she will despawn. For reference, though, she casts the following spells:

Cloud of Viscous Venom: AoE - 500 range (PR -400)
Decrease HP when cast by 2500
Decrease HP by 1000 per tick
Increase Poison Counters by 36
Sticky Netting: AoE - 200 range (Chromatic -450)
Decrease Spell Haste by 35%
Limit: Combat skills nota llowed
Decrease movement speed by 85%
Woven Ire: Single-target (DR -1000)
Decrease HP when cast by 379
Decrease HP by 279 per tick
Cast Woven Ire Trigger on fade
[edit] Singing
In their basic forms, ring events are pretty easy. So at this point you're probably asking, "so what's so hard about it, then?" Well, the answer is that periodically, one of the four bards on stage with The Performer (Aelfric the Flautist, Britton Harmony, Randal Reedsea, or Seth Kimble) will sing one random line of a song to a random member of the raid. That person must reply with a 100% perfect recital of the next line of the song.

This means that you must target the bard, and the line must be perfect; if the line ends with a period, your line must end with a period; if the line contains an ellipsis (". . ." - note the spaces between the periods), your line must contain an ellipsis; etc. It's worth noting that the bards will never ask you to sing the first line of the song, and they will never sing the last line of the song to you.

Each correctly-sung line heals The Performer a bit. Failure to sing the song correctly, however, will deal a bit of damage to The Performer, and the offending player will be hit by Stage Fright. A public emote will also be given, stating the name of the person who failed.

Many guilds use audio triggers for this event. It makes it much harder to miss a line.

The songs are as follows. If you hail the bards while the event is not in play, they will sing the entirety of the song for you.

[edit] Aelfric's Song
Aelfric the Flautist sings a catchy song with nonsensical lyrics.

Touched tenderly.
Where will you be?
Dreaming with me.
Please,
everybody, hear the music.
[edit] Britton's Song
Britton Harmony sings a tune describing the bitterness of a failed romance.

When she and I split ways,
it felt like the end of my days.
Until I suddenly,
suddenly realized
this life was better off alone.
Solitude was the best gift you ever gave me.
[edit] Randal's Song
Randal Reedsea sings a limerick about a historically significant figure.

Ol' Nilipus hailed from Misty Thicket.
Where'er he smelled Jumjum he'd pick it.
The halflings grew cross
when their profits were lost,
screamin', 'Where is that brownie? I'll kick it!'
[edit] Seth's Song
Seth Kimble sings a depressing tune about suffering and despair.

Another night, in eternal darkness.
Time bleeds like a wound that's lost all meaning.
It's a long winter in the swirling chaotic void.
This is my torture,
my pain and suffering!
Pinch me, O' Death. . .
[edit] Completion and Loot
Upon completing the event, a worn chest will spawn with the event's loot.

[edit] Items Dropped by A worn chest in Demi-Plane of Blood
Ancient Shadowspine Rune
Chunk of Solidified Marrow
Drop of Accursed Blood
Forgotten Artist's Mesh Pantaloons
Forgotten Artist's Mesh Tunic
Goresteel Spaulders
Invocation of Death's Shadow
Last Blood
Mask of the Forsaken
Obsidian Cummerbund
Oddtune, the Chaotic Minstrel
Overtone Earstone
Petrified Bone Girdle
Sunstone Wand
Vermiculated Drape
[edit] Mayong Banes
In addition to the chest's drops, Bards, Beastlords, Druids, and Shamans can get their Mayong banes by speaking with The Performer`s Spirit:

“ You say, 'Hail, The Performer`s Spirit'
The Performer`s Spirit whoops, 'We did it, Soandso! Free again! We've broken the shackles of enslavement that the Master imposed upon my troupe. It's only fair that we offer you compensation for this assistance. Is there a bard, beastlord, druid, or shaman among you that could [assist] in destroying the Master once and for all?'

The Performer`s Spirit says 'This ordinary looking gemstone has the power to glow with all the brightness of the sun when activated. It should be particularly effective against certain undead or vampires. Take it. Perhaps you can succeed where my followers and I have failed.'

I also made this to go along with the colors i chose for the hotkeys. I do not think we will need the lines in red because we are singing the second line of their so and they never sing the last so we would never have to say line 1.
