Melt in mouth Xmas cookies

I hate to make these, I end up eating most of them. Maks roughly 3 dozen.

1/2 cup butter (1 stick unsalted)
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1` cup all -purpose flour
1/2 cup finly ground slivered almonds ( package at super market, you grind)

1. Beat together butter and 1/2 cup of the confectioners sugar untill smooth and creamy.
Beat in almond extract, On low speed beat in flour and ground nuts.
2. Wpap dough in plastic wrap , refrigerate untl firm, at least 2 hours or next day or week.
3. Heat oven 325 degrees.
4. Pinch offpieces of dough in heaping teaspoons .Roll into logs. Taper ends into cresent shapes. Place on ungreased baking sheet.
5.Bake in 325 oven in middle for 16 to 18 minutes untill just lightly browned.

6. Remove cookies to wire rack or will ontinue to cook.

While still warm, dust wwith generous layer of remaining confectioners sugar,

When cool. dust witjh any remaining sugar.

Note! Almonds are sold as sllvered in supermarket, in log like shape (with out skin.)

Can grind in coffee grinder, or if u must with knife till course flour like


EDIT! You can enhance the flavor by toasting the nuts prior to grinding into flour. (Watch very carefully)

2. Dipping half of the cookie in melted chocolate. ( High Quality )

3. 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla in addition to almond extract,
