Onefop hugs a tree!

Post by Malegolas »

From Onefop:

"The area next to deck had been a constant weed removal project, plus not very attractive.

I created a mound shape that would retain water for the tree. The area was on a down slope and water ran off

Then compacted the material, covered it with landscaping cloth to discourage weed growth.

Then 3 different size small rocks of various shapes to surface the area as closely as possible to seem like a seamless mass.

Think it came out very nice."

A man after my own heart. As you'll see, I do a fair bit of landscaping myself.

Got a few rocks around the trees in my yard... gravel thrown from my snowblower over the winter.

In the summer, I move them back with my lawnmower.

Okay, not so keen on the landscaping, but I do appreciate nice work when I see it. Looks like you're building quite an oasis!

Nice landscaping, I still need to learn that.

I have built decks before:

It;s a Weeping Red Bud Tree Sandy.

Pasting more infor below

this unusual form of the native Redbud displays a very pendulous, umbrella shaped habit that often grows back over itself if untrained! (Probably best grown by staking.)

Ideal for small landscapes, it slowly reaches 5 feet high and 6 to 8 feet wide, bearing abundant red-purple buds that open to long-lasting, rosy-pink blooms in March and April. The leathery foliage angles out from the plant, turning yellow in fall; the bark is scaly. Prefers full sun to light shade. Zones 5-7.
