A quest I shall never forget PART 2

Post by Crichton Whitewynd »

Now Loremaster Borannin had ofcourse mentioned that he had another task for me to do,and as intrigued as I was, having lugged a bag full of Giant smelly toes around for a couple days had pretty much quested me out for the time being. So I decided to treat myself to a brew at one of the many local taverns (obviously the dain liked to partake in a drink every now and then, and then, and then). As I was sitting there with a cold beer in my hands letting my mind wander, I overheard two patrons talking,my mind was fuzzy at the time (due to the fact that I was on my 5th,6th, maybe 7th beer, hey I told my mind was fuzzy), but I shall try to retell what the conversation went, allthough I'm just gonna make up the names.
Frezink Hispantsof turns to Ima Popsykle "D'ja hear 'bout the trophy had contest goin' on?" Ima looks up from his beer obviously impatient from having to look up from his golden delight "Are ye Daft MAN!? D'ya want everyone t'hear about the blasted thing??, keep your blasted voice down! 'Course I know about the damn contest!" Frezink looks at Ima with a somewhat cowled look, knowing he deserved this rebuke. "Well have ye heard what the grand prize is? Well Have ye?" Frezink says to Imawith a look of supiority on his face, Ima,suddenly interestd glances up from his beer once more "Prize? I thought all ye got was the prayer shawl, which mind you is good enough! but theres more then?" Frezink's look of supiority gets larger "Aye, the grand prize is a all expense paid trip to the dock in Iceclad for a beach vacation for two!" Ima jumed out of his chair and grabbed his friend "WHAT'RE YE SITTIN AROUND FOR MAN LETS GET TO IT! WE HAVE A BETTER CHANCE WITH TWO OF US THEN WITH ONE!" and they rushed out the doors of the bar,and thus left the story for good.
Now mind you the idea of all expense paid trip to the dock in Iceclad didnt' sound too appealing to me, the fact that they had called it a beach really startled me (TALK ABOUT A POLAR BEAR CLUB!). But I was intrigued with this second shawl
so I stumbled out of the bar, and had the first Shaman I saw fix me up with a sobering tonic , and I was good to go (aside from the smoke billowing from my ears). I went back to the church have a chat with Loremaster Borannin again, I walked up to him and he appeared to bending over his book deep in thought, but once again I realized he was deep in sleep instea of thought, I thought to myself BY KARANA! ISN'T THIS GUY EVER AWAKE!?! So I tapped him on the shoulder lightly, snapping awake he mumbled something about resting his eyes, and this time grinning widely I asked him " What task would you have me perform next sire?" obivously getting ready for a long winded speech he smiled, and even though I knew what task, I let him go on just to humor him.
Loremaster Borannin began his speech "Every year The Dain replaces the trophy heads in the throne room, with new heads of Frost Giants slain in battle, the Grand prize is a all expense paid trip to Iceclad for a beach vacation!" continuing he said handing me a box "Now if you fill this box with frost Giant heads and give it to me along with your first shawl for me to turn into the throne, I shall reward you with the second prayer shawl and keep the trip for myself if I win" nodding I told him this was fair and set out to slaughter more of the Frost Giants (man these guys don't like frost giants eh?). Lugging the rather large box on my shoulder I set out for the Greater Divide to slay many Giants.
Now this one took awhile I must say, because rather oddly, a lot of the giants didnt' have heads! (which would ofcourse explain whythey woud live in such a cold cold cold place!) but in the end I triumphed, and lemme just tell you, Giant heads aren't as heavy as you think, it was by far lighter then the toes because I peered into one of the heads and I could see right through to the other side (once again this didn't surprise me one little bit). The box was heavy though and the heads did add some weight so I might imagine I looked quite funny pushing it through the city like a wheel barrow (WITHOUT WHEELS!). But somehow I managed to get it back to the church without running over too many people. Loremaster Borannin's face lit up as I pushed the box to him and he peered inside "MY WORD! These are some excellent specimens , clean cuts too!" I pulled the shawl off my back and handed that to him as well, still engrossed in the heads he didn't even look up just muttered "Yes yes here take the blasted shawl, I have yet another chore for you to complete if your not busy at this time"...
but, once again this is the end of Part 2 ;-) don't wanna give it all away at once do I now?

~ooc~
Once again this was based, BASED, on a true event, the quest is real but the conversations arent', except for the key phrases for the quests. Great story, someday perhaps my skills will be up to par to achieve a 3rd and 4th Shawl, until then keep the stories coming.
GrishkalurMystic of the Tribunal
